Frequently asked questions.
How long will the appointment last?
In general the appointments are no less than 2 hours, but can be longer. We want to make the appointment as comfortable as possible and encourage claimants to request as many comfort breaks as required throughout. Please let us know if you think you may need frequent breaks and this can be factored in to your appointment.
Can I bring someone in to the appointment?
Unfortunately, we do not permit family members or friends to be present throughout the appointment. The reason is that the clinical interview must be a true reflection of your experiences. However, they are welcome to come with you and wait for you in the waiting areas. It may be possible to arrange a short period at the start or end for them to contribute if you feel it would be especially beneficial. Please rest assured we want to make you as comfortable as possible throughout and if you are especially anxious we may be able to arrange a short call.
What will happen in the appointment?
The appointment will be a combination of clinical interview and questionnaire completion. The appointment is not psychological treatment. We will guide you throughout with what is required and when. Our intention is for the appointment to be as least anxiety provoking as possible. We are trained clinical psychologists and have particular expertise through our training in supporting individuals to discuss traumatic events.
At the end of the assessment we may advise you of any recommendations we have for treatment.
What if I need to reschedule?
If you become aware of not being able to attend your scheduled appointment you must inform your solicitor as soon as possible.
