Dr Hannah Bashforth has specialist experience in the psychological impact of women's health and obstetric conditions. Her NHS pain work included complex pelvic pain and vaginal mesh complications, and the development of a female-only multidisciplinary pelvic pain programme. She has also published research on female chronic pelvic pain and interdisciplinary pain management.

Her clinical and medico-legal work encompasses the psychological impact of traumatic childbirth, birth injury, stillbirth and baby loss, including the assessment and treatment of PTSD/PGD following birth trauma, within and outside of the context of pre-disposing psychological and social risk factors.

She also works closely with Liverpool Women's Hospital on current research in women's health, including studies relating to endometriosis and IVF.

In clinical practice, she works therapeutically with women experiencing PTSD and other psychological difficulties following traumatic birth and loss, alongside her medico-legal assessment of psychological injury arising from obstetric care.

Dr Arthur Pearce is an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with expertise in complex pain, physical health and psychological injury. He has undertaken medico-legal assessments and prepared expert reports in cases involving spinal cord injury (SCI), considering the psychological consequences of serious injury, adjustment to disability, chronic pain and associated mental health difficulties.

Dr Pearce has provided expert psychological opinion to the Civil Courts since 2021, acting for both claimants and defendants in personal injury and clinical negligence matters. His broader clinical background includes specialist pain management and neuropsychology, providing a strong foundation for the assessment of complex presentations following serious physical injury.

Dr Hannah Bashforth has over 20 years' experience, specialising in the psychological impact of serious injury, medical trauma and long-term physical health conditions. Her medico-legal work includes assessment of psychological adjustment following spinal cord injury, cauda equina syndrome, limb loss and other life-changing injuries, as well as chronic and persistent pain.

She has previously worked for many years in a senior role at The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHS Foundation Trust, a specialist neuroscience centre.

Dr Bashforth has extensive specialist experience in chronic pain and persistent physical symptoms (PPS), developed through many years working in large tertiary and multidisciplinary pain services, including Salford Royal and The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Her clinical work has focused on the psychological assessment and treatment of people living with complex and persistent pain, giving her a nuanced understanding of the interaction between physical symptoms, psychological factors, adjustment and functioning. She has also published research extensively in the field of chronic pain and has presented on the psychological aspects of pain in both clinical and medico-legal contexts. This depth of clinical and academic experience informs her independent medico-legal assessment of complex chronic pain presentations.

Dr Arthur Pearce is a Clinical Psychologist with specialist expertise in the psychological assessment and treatment of chronic pain and complex physical health presentations. He led Pain Psychology Services in Guernsey, providing psychological assessment and intervention for people with complex and persistent pain, and developing innovative approaches to pain management for patients with limited access to specialist services.

His clinical and medico-legal work includes chronic pain, somatising presentations, fibromyalgia and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), as well as psychological difficulties arising following failed or repeated surgery and delayed diagnosis or treatment.

Dr Pearce brings this clinical experience to his expert witness practice, providing balanced psychological opinion in complex personal injury and clinical negligence cases for both Claimants and Defendants, with particular expertise where pain, psychological factors and physical health interact.
